Russia focused on achievement of Iran nuclear deal - Ryabkov

MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - Moscow is focused on a final deal for the Iranian nuclear program and would like to avoid further extension of the negotiations, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax.

"We think we would not want a situation in which a new extension [of the negotiations] will be suggested, that is an undesirable hypothesis. We are focused on the result, moreover, it is attainable," he said.

It will be easier to draw up a final deal by the end of June in the case the negotiating sides make progress next week, Ryabkov said.

"If the meetings scheduled for next week are successful, the process to take place [up until] the end of June will be easier," the deputy minister underlined.

"Anyway, nothing is coordinated unless everything is coordinated. This is another essential norm of negotiations, especially in the complicated multinational format and especially in the case of such protracted problem pressing from many angles as normalization around the Iranian nuclear program," Ryabkov said.

The work will be mostly done by experts in the period until June if solutions are found to the main problems next week, he said.

"Speaking of the deadlines, late June, they are actually set by the agreements reached in Vienna last year. In addition to outlining the general political framework, i.e. the baseline document, experts will do a lot of work to spell out concrete actions and to say who will do what, when and in what amounts within that general political framework," Ryabkov said.

The negotiating sides agreed in November 2014 to arrive at a final deal by June 30, 2015, and to coordinate the political provisions already by late March.
