Only 41 foreign agent NPOs detected in Russia in past year - HRC member

MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - Prosecutors have identified only 41 nonprofit organizations (NPOs) as foreign agents after conducting relevant inspections over the past year, says Daniil Dondurei, a member of the Human Rights Council (HRC).

"After the enormous work they were able to find 41 organizations out of 2,000, which somehow fell under the term 'foreign agent'," he told a press conference at the Interfax head office on Thursday.

There are about 220,000 NPOs in Russia, 2,000 of them are funded from abroad, he said. Prosecutors had inspected just over a thousand.
