Russian, German coordination committees to discuss St. Petersburg Dialogue Forum prospects - source

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - The future of the Russian-German "St. Petersburg Dialogue" public forum will be discussed at a meeting of the Russian and German coordination committee next week, a source close to the forum told Interfax on Friday.

"The coordination committees' co-chairpersons are meeting early next week to discuss future prospects of the St. Petersburg Dialogue forum," the source said

The meeting is an attestation that "the parties are launching a dialogue on how the Forum will resume its work," he said.

In October 2014, Germany cancelled a forum meeting for the first time in 13 years. In mid-November the German chancellor insisted on raising the issue of reforming the forum and changing its management.

The forum was set up in 2001 at the proposal of Russian President Vladimir President and Gerhard Schroeder, then Germany's chancellor. The aim of the forum is to promote Russian-German cooperation in various spheres of the public life and to deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.
