Bodies of 16 victims identified after fire at Kazan shopping center
KAZAN. March 15 (Interfax) - Relatives have identified 16 of the 17 bodies, retrieved after a fire at the Admiral shopping center in Kazan, among them the bodies of seven foreign nationals, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Tatarstan department reported on Sunday.
"Sixteen bodies have been n identified at the republic forensic medicine center, including the bodies of seven foreign citizens - two from Tajikistan, one from Kyrgyzstan, one from Azerbaijan, three from Uzbekistan and one from Turkey. Also, a fragment of a male body has been identified," it said.
Thirteen bodies have been handed over to relatives to be buried, including the bodies of two citizens of Tajikistan, a citizen of Azerbaijan and two citizens of Uzbekistan.
A fire broke out at the Admiral shopping center on March 11, killing 17 people. It was put out at 9:30 p.m. The building collapsed on an area of 12,000 square meters.
