Belarusian servicemen to join Russian military command practice

MINSK. March 17 (Interfax) - Belarusian servicemen will join a strategic command-and-staff drill of the Russian Armed Forces' central command, the Belarusian Defense Ministry reported.

"A strategic command-and-staff drill of the Russian Armed Forces' central command will begin on March 17. A task force of officers from the Belarusian Armed Forces General Staff has come [to Russia] to join that practice," it said.

According to the Russian defense minister, the strategic drill will be held in the context of operations of the Russian Northern Fleet which was put on high alert together with some units of the Western Military District and Airborne Forces on March 16 on the orders from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The drill will end on March 20, 2015.
