Pskov paratroopers held nighttime drills

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - Reconnaissance units of Pskov's Airborne Troops division, acting in coordination with forward air assault groups, held a simulated landing operation at the Strugi Krasnye training range and proceeded farther on behind 'enemy' lines under the cover of the night during the Russian Armed Forces' command-and-staff exercises.

At nighttime, the paratroopers practiced reconnaissance operations and simulated an operation to counter an imaginary adversary's drones, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a report.

During the final stage of the drills, the paratroopers held live-fire exercises using weapons and military hardware against targets imitating an imaginary adversary's reconnaissance and strike systems and backup command checkpoints.

The units of the Pskov Airborne Troops division are currently practicing terrain retention awaiting the arrival of the main motorized rifle forces and air defense systems from the Western Military District.
