Nazarbayev offers to Putin, Lukashenko to come up with joint plan of actions to overcome crisis in Kazakh, Russian and Belarusian economies
ASTANA. March 20 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has offered to his Russian and Belarusian counterparts Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko to come up with a joint plan of actions to overcome the crisis in the Kazakh, Russian and Belarusian economies.
"It is important that we come up with a joint plan of actions to overcome the crisis in our economies. Today's meeting between the presidents was devoted to this issue. For example, Russian-Kazakh trade turnover is down 20%, mainly due to the decrease of the prices on our exports and, of course, currency fluctuations. We should overcome this burden together," he said after meeting with the presidents of Russia and Belarus in Astana on Friday.
He said the leaders of the three countries have agreed to develop trade-economic and investment cooperation and task the governments to promptly resolve the issues that arise.
"We will ask the governments to resume the increase of mutual trade. We have also agreed to continue the practice of such informal meetings to make prompt decisions," the president said.
