Special support measures of Avtovaz not discussed, reductions in co not expected - Manturov

GORKI. March 23 (Interfax) - The provision of certain support measures for Avtovaz is not being discussed, because the company is not planning the reduction of personnel, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said.

"Why? The fact is that no serious reduction is planned at Avtovaz. All reductions happened in 2008, 2009, 2010," Manturov told journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on measures of support for the auto industry.

In those years, Avtovaz employed 110,000 people compared with about 50,000 now. There is nothing left to cut, Manturov said.

He reiterated that there would be no large-scale layoffs among blue-collar workers and therefore no additional measures are required.
