Russian diplomats have no info indicating that Russians could have been on board Germanwings plane
MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The Russian consulate in Berlin does not possess information indicating that Russian citizens could have been on board the Airbus A320 that crashed on Tuesday in southern France while heading for Dusseldorf.
"There have been no official confirmation on this account from the Georgian Foreign Ministry," a diplomatic source told Interfax.
In the event of such accidents, a Russian consulate inquires for information on the possible presence of Russian citizens among the victims, and the host foreign ministry is supposed to confirm or deny such a presence, the source said.
The Russian consulate has not received such information, although the situation could change, he said.
An A320 operated by Germanwings crashed in southern France on Tuesday. Preliminary reports indicate that there were 72 citizens of Germany, 35 Spanish nationals, and two Americans among the casualties.
