Three killed, six injured as passenger bus hits mine near Ukraine's Horlivka - police

KYIV. March 26 (Interfax) - Three people were killed and another six were injured when a passenger bus hit a mine near the town of Artemivsk, Donetsk region, Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister for the Donetsk region Ilya Kyva wrote on Facebook on Wednesday evening.

"A bus carrying civilians hit a mine near Artemivsk. Three people were killed and six are in serious condition," he said.

The incident occurred as the bus driver tried to "bypass a checkpoint", he said. An investigation is under way.

The Horlivka.ua website reported earlier that a Horlivka-Artemivsk passenger bus had hit a mine near the Kurdyumivsk checkpoint.

"A bus carrying civilians was blown up near a checkpoint outside of Mayorsk on the Horlivka-Artemivsk road late on March 25. Artemivsk deputy mayor Yelena Holovkina confirmed this information in a phone call," it said.

According to social networking websites, it was the last Horlivka-Artemivsk bus on the Wednesday schedule. It was carrying over 20 people.
