Self-proclaimed Donetsk republic insists on cancellation of Rada resolutions on Donbas
MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Success of future peace negotiations on the crisis in eastern Ukraine depends directly on whether Kyiv will cancel the amendments to the law on Donbas' special status adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on March 17, says Denis Pushilin, a self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR) envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group.
"In order to constructively and efficiently continue the peace process within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group, the Verkhovna Rada should cancel these inefficient amendments to the law on Donbas' special status it passed on March 17. If these resolutions are not canceled, the Minsk negotiations will reach a dead end and will turn into a mere imitation of a settlement," Pushilin told Interfax.
The envoy called on Kyiv to return to observing the Minsk agreements stipulated by the February 12 package of measures. "Ukraine should be returned to observing the algorithm of the February 12 package of measures. There is no alternative to the package, nor is there a chance for implementing the forcible scenario. The sooner Kyiv understands this and cancels these amendments, the sooner it would be possible to switch to resolving economic and political issues," he said.
