Russia conducting air defense exercises in N. Ossetia

ROSTOV-ON-DON. March 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has started command-post exercises (CPX) in North Ossetia, involving units of the Southern Military District's air defense missile brigade stationed in Vladikavkaz.

"Over 250 servicemen and over 50 units of military hardware plus Su-25SM attack planes are taking part in the exercises," the Southern Military District's press service said in a statement shared with Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"The air defense servicemen [participating in the exercises] will train practical skills in reconnoitering, tracking, and intercepting aerial targets under the conditions of active noise jamming and the use of anti-radar missiles. The enemy's air attack systems will be simulated by Su-25SM attack planes," it said.

The units involved in the exercises were previously put on combat alert. "During the CPX, they will march 150 kilometers toward the Sernovodskoye range in the Stavropol territory, where they will practice preparing for and conducting combat actions," it said.
