Ex-Ukrainian deputy emergency service chief Stoyetsky released from jail on bail - lawyer
KYIV. April 1 (Interfax) - Vasyl Stoyetsky, a former deputy chief of the Ukrainian State Emergency Situations Service, has been released from custody on bail.
"Stoyetsky has been released," his lawyer Stanislav Tsvetinsky told Interfax on Wednesday.
He also said the defense team planned to file an appeal against the Pechersky District Court's ruling on Stoyetsky's arrest and bail with Kyiv's Appeals Court later on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, former State Emergency Situations Service chief Serhiy Bochkovsky is still in custody, and his relatives are looking for money to bail him out.
"Bochkovsky is so far in custody. I have no information on whether bail has been deposited. His relatives are dealing with this issue," Bochkovsky's lawyer Ihor Fedorenko told Interfax.
He also said Bochkovsky's defense team filed an appeal against the Pechersky District Court's rulingon Bochkovsky's arrest and bail with Kyiv's Appeals Court on Wednesday.
It was reported earlier that law enforcement agencies had detained Bochkovsky and Stoyetsky at a Cabinet of ministers meeting on March 25 on suspicion of abuse of office and involvement in corruption schemes in the State Emergency Situations Service. Immediately after this, the government fired the two officials.
Kyiv's Pechersky District Court granted the investigation's request on taking Stoyetsky into custody before trial for two months, setting a 1.182 million hryvni bail for him.
