Lavrov welcomes results of CSTO ministerial meeting
DUSHANBE. April 2 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has applauded the results of Thursday's meeting of foreign ministers from Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries in the Tajik capital Dushanbe.
"We are very pleased with the results of this session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council. Important decisions were adopted concerning both the 70th anniversary of the victory [in World War II] and practical issues of our foreign policy coordination," Lavrov said ahead of a bilateral meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjiddin Aslov.
The meeting of the CSTO foreign ministers was very "sincere", Lavrov said.
"It was a very sincere and productive dialogue," he added.
The Russian minister also reiterated the importance of representatives of the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) attending the meeting in Dushanbe.
"It was crucial that representatives of organizations which are our friends attended this session. They are OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ivica Dacic and representative of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Miroslav Jenca," he said.
