Federation Council Chairperson Matviyenko may visit DPRK in 2015
MOSCOW. Apr 3 (Interfax) - Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko may visit North Korea this year, Matviyenko's deputy Yevgeny Bushmin told North Korean Ambassador in Moscow Kim Hyun Joon as they met on the Federation Council premises.
"A visit of Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko to the DPRK is possible with the purpose of boosting parliamentary relations, and the visit may take place this year," Bushmin said.
He said Russia and North Korea were similar in some aspects. "The DPRK is isolated, and the United States is beefing up military pressure on your country and trying to topple its authorities. On the other hand, a "human rights" campaign involving various kinds of turncoats who commit crimes on the DPRK territory, flee to the South and join counterpropaganda projects has been mounting," Bushmin said.
The ambassador agreed and pointed to the ongoing pressure of the West and the United States on Russia which had led to anti-Russian sanctions.
"The United States and its allies are seeking to enhance their military presence near Russian borders, on the Ukrainian territory; they are stepping up pressure on your country, and the murder of opposition activist Boris Nemtsov is an illustrative example," the diplomat said.
In his words, Western adversaries of Russia, primarily, the United States are trying to make this murder an international affair.
"We share an opinion that no matter how hard the sanctions may be they will make your and our countries stronger," the DPRK Ambassador stated.
