Fedotov: Savchenko is eating some food
MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian citizen Nadia Savchenko is continuing her hunger strike and is taking in some food in the Moscow detention facility, Mikhail Fedotov, the head of the presidential human rights council, told Interfax on Friday.
"Her health condition is still tense but is taking in some food to stay alive," Fedotov said after visiting Savchenko in the detention facility on Friday in the company with Yelizaveta Glinka, a member of the human rights council.
Fedotov said Savchenko says she needs to eat minimal food "to live to her court hearing."
"It's no longer medication, it's normal food, but in very minimal quantities," Fedotov said.
"We understand that there is no use to call on Nadia Savchenko to resume eating normally, but we said she should watch her health. She said she wants to come to court on her own two feet," he said.
"Nadia Savchenko made some requests, but they were all related to her everyday needs. She has no complaints about the living conditions in the detention facility. She told us she has decided to donate the 15 books, including books in Ukrainian, which were sent to her, to the detention facility's library," Fedotov said.
