Ukraine to remain unitary state after changes to constitution are adopted - president

KYIV. April 6 (Interfax) - Almost 90% of citizens of Ukraine support a unitary model of the state in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"Decentralization has nothing to do with federalization. Ukraine is and, I am convinced, will remain a unitary state and not because we here in the administration will decide so but because we regularly study public opinion. And I can assure you that societal support of a unitary model of public administration was very powerful in the past year and it now nears 90%," Poroshenko said at a meeting of the constitutional commission in Kyiv on Monday.
