Renault Russia to supply Duster to Vietnam - minister

HO CHI MINH CITY. April 7 (Interfax) - Renault Russia will supply the Duster automobile to Vietnam, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters.

"As the Renault Duster has a certain exclusivity from the point of view of production and the Avtoframos industrial site in the Renault-Nissan alliance, Avtoframos has received the right to supply these automobiles to the Vietnamese market," he said.

He said these would be duty-free shipments for a period of one year with subsequent localization.

He said this concerned the localization of production of cars on the basis of the Nissan plant in Vietnam.

In his turn, the CEO of CJSC Renault Russia, Andrei Pankov, said that today this plant has the capacity for the production of 30,000 cars a year, when only 3,000 of that capacity is being used. "There will be all the same a unique situation, when for the first time in Russia highly localized cars will be assembled, which will be supplied to real foreign markets," he said.

Manturov said that talks continued over the course of three months. He said that an intergovernmental agreement should be signed, and in the future an agreement should be worked out on a free trade zone. "Then there should be progress," he said.
