No ammunition on board Oryol nuclear sub, reactor shut down - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The Oryol nuclear submarine, which caught fire on Tuesday, had no ammunition on board as it had been unloaded from it before its planned maintenance started in November 2013, the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-AVN.
"The [nuclear] reactor has been shut down. There is no nuclear fuel on board the nuclear submarine," it said.
