Moscow LGBT to hold pride parade, two rallies, four pickets in Kostroma in one week
YAROSLAVL. April 7 (Interfax) - Moscow LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) activists have notified the administration of the city of Kostroma about their plans to hold seven public events on April 13-20, according to the GayRussia.Ru website.
"The Kostroma gay pride parade in support of tolerant attitudes and the rights and freedoms of homosexuals in Russia is scheduled for April 19, with up to 100 participants," the announcement reads.
LGBT activists are also planning two rallies and four pickets with up to 20 participants. These events call for legalization of same-sex marriages, a legal ban on gender discrimination, and are aimed against any executions of homosexuals by ISIS militants in the Middle East.
It was reported earlier that in April 2014 LGBT activists had already tried to hold a pride parade and two rallies in Kostroma but their bid was turned down by the authorities.
A court ruled that the Kostroma administration had banned the LGBT events due to force-majeure.
