Russia exports 4.1 bln kWh of electricity in Jan-Feb for $154.3 mln - customs

MOSCOW. April 7 (Interfax) - Russia exported 4.1 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in January-February 2015 worth $154.3 million, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.

Russia exported 2.84 billion kWh for $108.6 million to non-CIS countries and 1.273 million kWh ($45.7 million) to the CIS.

Russia imported 1.348 billion kWh for $56.7 million, including 26.9 million kWh ($400,000) from the non-CIS and 1.321 billion kWh ($56.4 million) from the CIS.

The FCS notes that the exports increased 56.4% year-on-year in natural terms, but does not provide updated absolute figures for January-February 2014.

It was reported last year that Russia exported 2.25 billion kWh ($124 million) in January-February 2014, including 1.613 billion kWh ($87.4 million) to the non-CIS and 634.4 million kWh ($36.6 million) to the CIS.

In addition, Russia imported 526 million kWh ($13.5 million) in 2M 2014, including 9.2 million kWh ($200,000) from the non-CIS and 517 million kWh ($13.3 million) from the CIS.

The largest markets for Russian electricity are Finland, Lithuania, Belarus and China.
