Prosecutors verifying compliance with labor rights in Vostochny project
VLADIVOSTOK. April 8 (Interfax) - The Amur region prosecution service is inspecting the Vostochny spaceport project over salary debts.
"Given the frequent salary debts to builders of the Vostochny spaceport, the regional prosecution service and controlling agencies are looking into the observation of labor rights and living conditions of workers constructing spaceport facilities," the prosecution service said on Wednesday.
The rights of over 200 workers have been restored this year through measures taken by the prosecution service, and the payment of salary debts has topped 9 million rubles.
Stroyindustria-S workers downed their tools on March 24 because of salary debts. They said last week they intended to go on a hunger strike.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin visited Vostochny on Monday, April 6, and dismissed former Dalspetsstroy head Dmitry Savin. Later on that day, the Amur region department of the Russian Investigative Committee apprehended LLC Stroyindustria-S General Director Sergei Terentyev on the counts of salary debts exceeding two months under part 2, article 145.1 of the Russian Criminal Code.
