Former Tupolev top manager charged with abuse of office in absentia - source
MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - A former Tupolev executive director has been charged with abuse of office causing losses of more than 200 million rubles to the company and is now wanted by the federal authorities, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax.
"A former Tupolev executive director has been issued with an indictment in absentia over abuse of office resulting in multi-million losses to the company. The man absconded and is now on the federal wanted list," the source said
A police investigator from Moscow's Central District has issued an indictment in absentia to one of suspects in a criminal case over abuse of office resulting in significant damage to an aircraft making company, a Moscow police spokesperson told Interfax.
"It was established that a former executive director and a former director for aircraft design, production and servicing, persuaded the top management to rent out some of the company's premises for profit. All these transactions were unprofitable for the company, of which the accused had been aware in advance," the spokesperson said, declining to name the employer of the accused.
According to police, in 2005 the aforesaid organization and a managing company controlled by one of the accused signed long-term lease contracts for 3,245 square meters with a stipulated annual rent of between 2,000 and 5,000 rubles per one square meter. In reality, however, the premises leased to the managing company were used for sublease under real market prices, but without the landlord's knowledge.
In 2008 the organization and the company signed addenda to the lease contracts, extending the lease until 2027 and stipulating a rent of 4,000-6,000 rubles per one square meter, the spokesperson said.
"The unlawful actions of the accused resulted in losses to the aircraft making organization, expressed in lost profit from the sublease of the commercial premises, which by October 2014 had exceeded 233.5 million rubles," the spokesperson said.
A criminal case over abuse of office was launched in December 2013.
