Ukrainian Security Service accuses ex-PM Azarov, ex-MPs Tsaryov, Oliynyk of funding protests

KYIV. April 8 (Interfax) - Funding for protests aimed at destabilizing the situation in Ukraine, which are possible during the upcoming Orthodox Easter celebrations, is coming from the offices of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and former Party of Regions parliamentarians Oleh Tsaryov and Volodymyr Oliynyk, the Ukrainian Security Service said.

"The Security Service has information that actions are possible to destabilize the situation both in the Ukrainian capital and in other cities. All these actions have been financed, and we announced today that the funding is coming from the so-called offices of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and former deputies Tsaryov and Oliynyk, who are currently in Moscow," Markiyan Lubkivsky, an adviser to the Ukrainian Security Service chief, said at a news briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The Security Service possesses incontrovertible evidence proving that such protests are being financed by the said individuals, Lubkivsky said. "We have unconditional evidence, and it is in the case materials," he said.
