Kemerovo region sees coal production fall slightly in Q1

KEMEROVO. April 10 (Interfax) - Coal production in the Russia's Kemerovo region fell 0.6% year-on-year to 50.6 million tonnes in January-March 2015, the regional administration reported in a statement.

This included 14.7 million tonnes of coking coal, 400,000 tonnes more year-on-year.

Companies in the region shipped 49.7 million tonnes of coal to customers in Q1, including 27.9 million tonnes for export, up 1.2% and 2.4% respectively from 50.3 million tonnes and 28.6 million tonnes in the same period a year earlier.

Kemerovo region mined 17.3 million tonnes of coal in March alone and shipped the same amount, including 4.8 million tonnes of coking coal.

Coal inventories stood at 7.8 million tonnes at the end of March, compared to 8.3 million tonnes at the end of February.
