Russia, Uzbekistan create joint group to counter Hizb ut-Tahrir

TASHKENT. April 10 (Interfax) - Russia and Uzbekistan are working closely together on countering the criminal activities by the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Deputy Director Sergei Smirnov said.

"We have worked regularly for several years. A joint group has been created, which is working permanently," Smirnov told reporters on Friday after the 26th session of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO in Tashkent.

Among the meeting participants were representatives of the relevant authorities of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

The next session of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure will be held in Uzbekistan in September 2015.
