Lavrov expected at Council of Europe Committee of Ministers meeting
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to take part in a Council of Europe Committee of Ministers meeting in Brussels on May 19, says Committee of Ministers Chairman and Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders.
"We expect Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to take part in a Committee meeting on May 19. He confirmed at our bilateral meeting that he planned to take part in it unless something extraordinary happens," Reynders said in an interview with Interfax.
Despite the fact that the credentials of the Russian delegation to PACE have been suspended, the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers is continuing to closely cooperate with Moscow, he said.
"The activities within the Committee framework have not been affected. The ministers are convinced that it is necessary to maintain contacts and continue working together with Russia. PACE is another body where decisions are made by delegations," Reynders said.
The full version of Reynders' interview will be published later on www.interfax.ru.
