Kazakhstan not in trade war with Russia - Kazakh economy ministry

ASTANA. April 13 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is not fighting a trade war against Russia, says the Kazakh Ministry of National Economy.

"There is no trade war. [Russia] is our most friendly and close country," Deputy Minister of National Economy Kairbek Uskenbayev told journalists in Astana on Monday.

"This is a safety issue. If some food products, irrespective of the origin country, do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning food safety, nobody would like to consume them," he said.

The restriction measures do not have to do with any specific country but only with the manufacturers that produce goods of poor quality, the deputy minister said.
