Putin, Abbas to discuss situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen
NOVO-OGARYOVO. April 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to discuss issues relating to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas and exchange with him opinions on the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
"The situation in the region has been aggravated. Of course, it is very important to hold consultations on the entire range of these issues. I mean first of all the Israeli-Palestinian track. And no only that. I would like to talk to you about the situation in Syria, Iraq and now in Yemen," Putin said while meeting with Abbas.
Putin also pointed out Palestine's contribution to the serious work to stabilize the situation in the region. "It's now been ten years since your election as head of Palestine. In that time, you have done a lot of work to stabilize the situation, both domestic political and economic," Putin said.
"Those were very difficult years," Putin said. "At the same time, I am glad to say that the relations between Palestine and Russia have developed consistently," Putin said.
