Vostochny Cosmodrome construction schedule must be met - Putin

NOVO-OGARYOVO. April 13 (Interfax) - The schedule for building the Vostochny Cosmodrome must be observed and more intensive efforts should be made to get back to the timeframe set, President Vladimir Putin told Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and chief of the federal pace agency Roscosmos Igor Komarov.

"You must understand that Vostochny Cosmodrome is one of the country's key construction sites and is a national project. Keep it under your keen supervision. The deadlines set must be rigorously observed," Putin said.

He also said that he was informed about the current delays. "But a positive acceleration trend has been seen lately. This trend must be maintained. We must work to attain the plans set," the Russian president said.

Rogozin in turn said that the cosmodrome infrastructure is be fully created in 2015.

"What's the date of the launch?" Putin asked. "We propose setting the launch for December 2015," Rogozin said.

Rogozin and Komarov spoke about plans of dealing with the construction arrears.

"I remain in touch with the person in charge of the construction - Alexander Mordovets. We will propose ideas today how the arrears can be fixed," Rogozin said.

He told Putin that vivid progress had been made in building the cosmodrome, adding that technological equipment had been installed on the launch pad already.

"In fact, the launch pad has been assembled. Construction is well underway. The deadline will be met," he said.
