Russia awaiting Brazilian proposals on Yakovlev Yak-130 - Rosoboronexport

RIO DE JANEIRO. April 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainer has good prospects in Brazil, Rosoboronexport Deputy General Director Sergei Goreslavsky told reporters at the LAAD 2015 Latin American defense and security exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.

"Brazil is steadily interested in the Yak-130 plane. We continue to promote the complex in that country," Goreslavsky said.

He added that the decision would not be made in the near future due to Brazil's rearrangement of its time schedules.

"We are expecting Brazil to propose the beginning of this discussion. We are looking forward to it and we are prepared. The issue remains on the table but the ball is in the Brazilian court. The Yakovlev Yak-130 will give a unique chance to modernize the combat trainer fleet of the Brazilian Air Force," Goreslavsky noted.

He also said that adaptation of the radar system for the Yakovlev Yak-130 customized for Brazil had been discussed in a previous period.
