Libyan PM accuses UN envoy of bias, urges West to assume responsibility for country's chaos

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Libya is not satisfied with the work of the United Nations Special Envoy for Libya Abdelilah al-Khatib and says that the responsibility for the country's crisis lies entirely with the West.

"You are perfectly aware that western countries once helped topple the regime. However, they fully destroyed the potential of the Libyan Army and law enforcement forces. And they left the Libyan people without any efficient government institutions," Libyan Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thani told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.

"Western countries must assume full responsibility for the current chaos in Libya," he said.

He also voiced his discontent with the UN special envoy for Libya.

"The same can be said about the problems faced by the UN special envoy for Libya of whom we cannot say that he maintains neutral dialogue with all sides, this does not contribute to the real interests of the Libyan people," he said.
