Rosselkhoznadzor to begin audit of suppliers in Greece, Hungary on April 20, in Cyprus on April 27
MOSCOW. April 17 (Interfax) - Russian veterinary specialists will begin an inspection of livestock product suppliers from Greece, Hungary and Cyprus.
Rosselkhoznadzor's official spokesperson Alexei Alexeyenko, who was ordered to head the inspections, told Interfax that groups of inspectors would begin work in Greece and Hungary on April 20. Inspections would begin in Cyprus on April 27.
He said the inspections would last ten days.
Concerning the possibility of supplies of crop products, in particular, fruit from Greece, Alexeyenko said that he has plans for talks with representatives of the surveillance authorities of this country. "We will discuss these opportunities and the safety requirements of the products," he said, explaining that suppliers of crop products are not being inspected. At present the Russian market for them is closed by the food embargo.
