Rosatom determined to fulfill obligations to Ukraine - Kiriyenko

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - The Russian state atomic energy corporation Rosatom is determined to continue fulfilling its obligations to Ukraine, even despite difficult relations between the two countries, the vesti.ru news website quoted Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko as saying.

He pointed out that nuclear power plants make up the core of Ukraine's power industry.

"In winter, NPPs generated up to 60% of all electric energy in Ukraine," Kiriyenko said.

Virtually all fuel for these plants comes from Rosatom facilities, agreements with which have never been disrupted, he said.

Kiriyenko called this an issue of reputation and trust, which "is of fundamental importance in such a strategic industry as the atomic one."
