Poltava journalist gets anonymous letter containing death threats - police
POLTAVA. April 23 (Interfax) - An unknown person in Poltava is making death threats to a journalist working for the local television channel Ltava, the public relations department of the regional police department has reported.
On April 22, the regional state-run television and radio company Ltava received an anonymous letter containing death threats against one of the journalists, the police said.
"After arriving at the scene, the police began a probe and the work to identify the author of the letter. This case contains indications of a crime enshrined by Part 1 of Article 129 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (making a death threat). The crime is punishable by up to six months in prison or up to two years of restriction of freedom," the report says.
The threat has been taken for examination by the police. An investigation is underway.
The Poltava region's state-run television and radio company Ltava was founded in 1977. It comprises the radio station Vasha Khvilya, the television channel Ltava, and a regional radio station.
