High-level representatives of Contact Group may meet in nearest future - Lukashevich

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry does not rule out that a full-format round of the high-level Contact Group may take place soon.

"We have a feeling that a full-fledged round involving high representatives of the conflict parties and also members of the Contact Group representing Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE may be held in the nearest future," Russian Foreign Ministry official Alexander Lukashevich told a briefing in Moscow on Friday.

Responding to a question as to how the Minsk process on Ukraine be evaluated, the diplomat said: "There is nothing to boast about."

He pointed out "Kyiv's clear unwillingness to speak directly to Donetsk and Luhansk, which "contradicts the entire philosophy of the Minsk agreements of February 12."

"The provisions of the Minsk set of measures are being altered by the Ukrainian authorities, which are essentially making decisions that directly contradict the logic of the Minsk agreements," he said.

Lukashevich said conducting a constitutional reform without Luhansk and Donetsk also directly contradicts the provisions of the Minsk agreements. "It is now obvious that the process is going deeper and deeper into a deadlock. The guarantor countries, France and Germany, as we hope, will participate in exerting the needed influence on the Kyiv administration to launch the process," he said.
