Head of Crimea founds public Crimean Tatar television
SIMFERPOL. April 24 (Interfax) - Sergei Aksyonov, the head of the Republic of Crimea, has ordered the creation of a non-commercial organization called Public Crimean Tatar Television and Radio Company. The decree to this effect issued by Aksyonov is available for viewing on the official website of the Crimean government.
Under the decree, the television channel is being created "for the purpose of prompt, truthful and comprehensive reporting to the people of the Republic of Crimea on the current events in the sphere of domestic and foreign policy, culture, education, science, spiritual life and in other areas affecting the interests of the Crimean Tatar people."
The work of the channel will be supervised by a public council, which will be composed of people who are related to the history, culture, and language of Crimean Tatars. The composition of the council will be approved by the head of the Republic of Crimea. Its members will be appointed for a five-year period and will not be able to combine their work with work in public administration.
