Two OSCE/ODIHR observers stripped of accreditation in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. April 25 (Interfax) - The Kazakhstan Central Election Commission (CEC) has revoked accreditation from two members of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) mission monitoring the country's presidential election, a CEC spokesperson said on Saturday, having named them as Sergei Kalashnikov and Stepan Tapanan.

The accreditation has been canceled "in relation to the formal requests by the OSCE/ODIHR monitoring mission," it said.

Relevant changes have been made to the CEC decree of April 20, "On accreditation of observers from foreign countries and international organizations for the early presidential election in the Republic of Kazakhstan due on April 26, 2015," the spokesperson said.
