LPR declares Victory Day state holiday

LUHANSK. April 27 (Interfax) - The head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has signed a decree declaring May 9, the Victory Day, a state holiday in the LPR, the Luhansk Information Center has reported.

"Due to the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War to perpetuate the memory of the dead and to continue the tradition of respect for war veterans and also patriotic education of the younger generation, May 9 has been declared a holiday and a non-working day," the document says.

The report also says that May 11, 2015 will also be a non-working day because May 9 falls on a non-working day.
