Russian doctors help ten quake victims in Nepal
MOSCOW. May 1 (Interfax) - Emergency Situations Ministry doctors attached to the Russian combined unit have helped ten employees of the Russian Embassy and locals hurt in the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the ministry press service said in a report.
"Medical aid has been given to three employees of the Russian Embassy, one child and six local residents, including one minor, in the period of [doctors'] work in Nepal, since April 29," the ministry said.
It added that the patients were in fair condition.
The ministry, the Embassy and other Russian entities are collecting applications from citizens seeking evacuation to Russia. "Forty-two applications filed by Russians wishing to leave Nepal have been processed. They will return home by scheduled flights within days," the ministry said.
Whereabouts of Russian citizens in Nepal are being verified by use of statements lodged with the ministry's reception office. "Whereabouts of five citizens have been established in the processing of five statements," the ministry said.
According to the latest reports, the quake that jolted Nepal last week killed 6,204 and wounded 13,932.
