It is in Austria's interest that Baumgarten would become key element of any gas project - Austrian Foreign Minister
MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - Vienna is interested in gas, including gas from the Turkish Stream, coming to Austria's Baumgarten.
"Baumgarten is the only liquid gas hub in Central Europe. It would, therefore, be a key element in any project comparable to South Stream," Austrian Minister for European, International and Integration Affairs Sebastian Kurz said in an exclusive interview granted to Interfax at the beginning of his two-day visit to Russia.
"Strengthening this position is naturally in the interests of Austria and, I believe, also of our neighboring countries and the relevant Austrian companies," he added.
That was his answer to the question whether Austria is interested in gas deliveries to Baumgarten along the Turkish Stream and whether Austrian companies are ready to work on this task.
However, Kurz said: "Austria has left no doubt that any European infrastructure project must be in conformity with European law, in particular the provisions of the Third Energy Package."
