Chances remain for peaceful settlement in Donbas - Luhansk republic leader

LUHANSK. May 4 (Interfax) - Chances still remain for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, said leader of the Luhansk self-declared republic Igor Plotnitsky.

"Ample chances remain for settling the situation peacefully. We are looking ahead with armed optimism," Plotnitsky said at a press briefing in Luhansk on Monday.

On the Contact Group's meeting to be held in Minsk on May 6, he said that, "only our contact groups are going to Minsk so far."

He said that no final documents are expected to be signed during the planned meeting of the Contact Group. Therefore, neither he, nor leader of the Donetsk self-proclaimed republic Alexander Zakharchenko will attend the meeting, Plotnitsky said.
