Turkey to be represented by ambassador at Victory events in Moscow - embassy
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - Turkey will be represented by the ambassador to Russia during the upcoming festivities to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in Moscow on May 9, the Turkish embassy's press service told Interfax.
"Mr. Umit Yardim will represent Turkey during the Victory Day festivities in Moscow," an embassy spokesman said.
Speaker of the Turkish parliament Cemil Cicek earlier said that Turkish President Recep Erdogan could come to Moscow in May for festivities in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
"An invitation has been forwarded to Mr. President. The invitation will be considered. Our president will try to give a positive reply to it," he said at a press conference in Moscow.
