TGK-1 cuts electricity production 3% in Q1

ST. PETERSBURG. May 5 (Interfax) - OJSC TGK-1 cut electricity production 2.8% year-on-year in January-March 2015 to 7.51 billion kilowatt hours (kWh), the company said in a statement.

The main reason for this was overall decline in electricity consumption, lower demand for electricity and power under regulated contracts and low liquid water content at the Nevsky and Karelsky branches.

Electricity sales on the day-ahead and export markets edged up 0.8% to 8.511 billion kWh.

Output from the company's combined heat and power plants declined 2% to 4.8 billion kWh and output from hydropower plants was down 4.1% to 2.711 billion kWh.

Production of heat, including from the Murmansk Combined Heat and Power Plant, totaled 9.102 million Gcal, 2.9% less than in the same period last year, mainly due to milder weather, installation of metering stations and reduced economic activity at a number of heat consuming enterprises.
