Russian parliament speaker: U.S. must compensate Cuba for sanctions-inflicted losses

HAVANA. May 5 (Interfax) - The speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament insisted on Tuesday that the United States compensate Cuba for losses inflicted on the Caribbean country by U.S. economic sanctions.

"We believe that the United States must compensate Cuba for the losses it has sustained for the several decades of economic blockade," State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin said at a meeting with the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Cuban parliament), Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
