Oil flow from Vankor to Transneft system resumes
MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The flow of oil on pipelines from the Vankor field to the Purpe delivery and acceptance point on the Transneft pipeline system has resumed after a 41-hour interruption, advisor to the Transneft president and spokesman Igor Dyomin told Interfax.
The oil flow halted on May 5 at 12:01 a.m. and resumed at 5:00 p.m. on May 6.
"We expect that the oil delivery plan for the month in this direction will be met; it will be possible to make up the shortfall," he said.
Dyomin did not identify the reason that oil stopped flowing into the system at Purpe, where it is shipped on the Purpe-Samotlor pipeline to the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline, ultimately to the port of Kozmino.
A representative of CJSC Vankorneft told Interfax that on May 4 the service company responsible for round-the-clock monitoring of pipeline operation detected a malfunction at Kilometer 338 of the Vankor-Purpe pipeline. An emergency response crew was immediately dispatched to the scene.
"The oil production process was not interrupted. The repairs did not affect the production plan," the representative said. The company has formed a commission to identify the causes of the malfunction and to rectify the consequences of the incident.
