Progress cargo spacecraft to fall early on May 8 - Roscosmos

MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax-AVN) - A Progress M-27M cargo spacecraft, whose placement into orbit was disrupted shortly after its launch on April 28, will fall to Earth in the early hours of Friday, May 8, the Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos has reported.

"The spacecraft will cease to exist approximately between 0:45 a.m. and 6:36 a.m. on May 8," Roscosmos said in a statement shared with Interfax-AVN on Thursday.

"Roscosmos will update the information on the time and the expected area of the fall of the Progress M-27M fragments after 5:00 p.m. Moscow time today," it said.

"The spacecraft will burn up upon its reentry to the earth's atmosphere, and only some small fragments of its structural elements may reach the planet's surface. Their nature and sizes will be analogous to those occurring during the planned deorbit of Progress M spacecraft," Roscosmos said.
