DPR questions need for foreign verification group's visit to Donbas

DONETSK. May 7 (Interfax) - The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have called into question the advisability of a foreign verification mission coming to Donbas, DPR Parliament Speaker Andrei Purgin told reporters on Thursday.

"I see no need in that. Certainly, one should listen to what the head of state has to say, but, in my opinion, the Joint Center for Control and Cooperation, within which the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) operates, is quite enough. They have full information about the current situation," he said.

Kyiv announced on May 6 that a Danish-led verification group, which also includes inspectors from Canada, Moldova and Poland, had begun working in the east of Ukraine.

The inspectors are currently working in Kramatorsk of the Donetsk region. The group's further measures will depend on the current situation in the region.

Following the inspection, the group will prepare a report, which will then be submitted to OSCE member countries, the press center of the Ukrainian army's operation in Donbas said on its Facebook account.
