Abbas says Palestine plans to enter intl organizations
MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The Palestinian authorities are preparing to continue the process of accession to international organizations and treaties, Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas said.
"We have, indeed, entered several organizations such as UNESCO, the Geneva agreements, the International Criminal Court, etc.," he said in an interview with Interfax before his visit to Russia to attend the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
"As regards joining other organizations and treaties, we are preparing to join them to keep our rights, which are provided to us by international law and the UN Charter," he said.
Abbas recalled that the Palestinians received the right to join all international organizations, establishments and treaties under the United Nations Organization after receiving the decision on the inclusion in the UN General Assembly on November 29, 2012 and the recognition of the Palestinian State as an observer state.
