Experts found solutions to problems hampering Kyrgyzstan's EEU accession - Atambayev
MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has expressed his hope that an agreement over Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will be signed.
"I know that literally less than an hour ago experts finally found a solution that suits both the Union's principal members and Kyrgyzstan. And, of course, I can sigh with relief, I hope, because I think the heads of state trust their experts," Atambayev said at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
"Virtually all (Kyrgyz) citizens are waiting: shall we sign this agreement today and join the Union or shall we not be able to sign. This is all the more symbolical ahead of the Victory jubilee. And, of course, we will sign," he said.
There is no way back, Atambayev said. "For myself, I have long made the decision. I was very worried whether our experts will be able to find a common solution. I can say I haven't slept the past two or three nights," Atambayev said.
